OpSIS is one of the world’s first silicon photonics multi-project wafer (MPW) foundry services. For a description of the services offered, as well as video introductions by National Medal of Technology winner Carver Mead, and CTO of Intel Justin Rattner, please see http://depts.washington.edu/uwopsis/. OpSIS has also recently been discussed in the leading scientific journal Nature – http://www.nature.com/news/photonic-chips-made-easier-1.10264. OpSIS is supported by a mix of grant funds and revenues, and we project that the total funding will be in the multi-million dollar range in 2012. We currently have a wide range of organizations making use of our services and leveraging our expertise, ranging from academic groups and startups to Fortune-50 companies.
We are searching for a business development manager who can help us expand and run our organization. Key duties include market research, marketing, export control and legal diligence, financial modeling, logistics planning, strategic alliances and customer relationship management. As the organization grows, the responsibilities associated with this position will grow with it. Candidates with an advanced degree such as a PHD, MBA or JD are desired, but this is not a requirement. Prior experience in semiconductor manufacturing is desirable but is not required. Management experience is desirable. Fluency in Mandarin is not required, but may be helpful. A willingness to travel extensively is also likely to be important.

The salary offered is $100k, and is negotiable. A relocation package will also be offered.
